The Montana Assistive Technology Loan (MATL) provides individuals with an opportunity to purchase assistive technology such as self-care aids, home or vehicle modifications, prosthetics, orthotics, and communication devices.

MATL Loan Program Eligibility
The Montana Assisted Technology Loan Program eligibility parameters are:
- Any Montanan with a disability.
- A family member or guardian borrowing on behalf of a Montanan with a disability.
- An active member of the United States military stationed in Montana.

- 0% Annual Percentage Rate (APR) Loans up to $1,500
- 3.5% Fixed Annual Percentage Rate (APR) Loans $1,501 and above

How To Get Started
1. Gather Required Documentation
- Primary Form of Identification: i.e. Montana State ID
- Secondary Form of Identification: i.e Social Security card or utility bill
- Equipment Verification Documents: i.e print-out of a website page, estimate from a manufacturer, etc
- Proof of Income: i.e: pay stubs, SSI award letter, etc
- Other Personal Documentation: Letters of support, other items requested or needed by the loan review committee
- Estimate of Insurance: (Vehicle Loans only)
2. Fill Out The Application

3. Loan Evaluation
Upon approving eligibility and all materials requested, the application will be submitted to the MATL Loan Review Committee. The Loan Committee will evaluate all of the applicant’s documents and approve or decline the application.
4. Loan Decision
The Loan Committee will provide a decision in writing to the applicant within 30 business days.
- Approval: Upon final loan approval, the borrower will be directed on the next steps to close the loan.
- Denial: If the Loan Committee declines a loan the applicant will be sent an adverse action letter within three business days of the determination. The letter may offer an alternative to the applicant such as:
- Approval for a lesser amount.
- Approval with a qualified co-applicant or other conditions.
- RDI financial counseling services that may assist them in establishing an acceptable credit rating.
